YouTube to M4A converter
Save a video's audio as an M4A file, copied exactly as YouTube stores it. There's no re-encoding, so nothing is lost and it's ready in seconds.
How it works
Copy the video link
In the YouTube app, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.
Paste it and pick a format
Paste the link above, then choose M4A and the quality you want.
Download the file
When the file is ready, press Download. It saves to your device's Downloads folder.
Why M4A is the original quality
YouTube stores most audio as AAC inside an M4A container. When you choose M4A, that audio is copied into your file as it is. Converting to MP3 means decoding and encoding again, which always loses a little. Copying doesn't.
Because nothing is re-encoded, M4A files are also smaller than a 320 kbps MP3 — usually around 1 MB per minute — and they're ready faster. They play natively on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and in most Android, Windows and web players, including VLC.
Choose MP3 instead if the file has to play on an older device, a car stereo or anything that only accepts MP3.
| M4A | MP3 320 kbps | |
|---|---|---|
| Re-encoded | No — copied as is | Yes |
| Size per minute | ~1 MB | ~2.4 MB |
| Plays on | Most modern devices | Almost everything |
What you get
Title and cover art included
MP3 files get the video's title, channel name and thumbnail written into their tags, so they look right in your music app.
No account, nothing to install
It runs in your browser on phones, tablets and computers. You don't need to sign up or install an app.
An original-quality option
Choose M4A to get the audio exactly as YouTube stores it, copied without re-encoding.
Popular videos are ready fast
If a video was converted recently, the same file is reused and your download starts right away.
Files are deleted after 24 hours
Converted files are removed automatically. We don't ask for your name or email.
Clear errors, not dead ends
If a video can't be converted, the converter tells you why — for example, that it's private or a live stream.

Questions and answers
What's the difference between M4A and MP3?
Both are compressed audio formats. The M4A here is a direct copy of YouTube's audio, so there's no extra quality loss. MP3 is re-encoded, which loses a little, but it plays on more devices.
Is M4A really the original quality?
Yes. The AAC audio is copied without being decoded or re-encoded, so it's identical to what YouTube delivers.
Can I choose the bitrate?
No. The bitrate is whatever YouTube uses for that video, usually around 128 kbps. That's the point: nothing is changed.
Will M4A play on Android and Windows?
Yes. Current Android phones, Windows 10 and 11, and players like VLC all support M4A.
Why is M4A faster than MP3?
Because there's no encoding step. The audio is copied, which takes a moment instead of a full conversion.
